Vincenzo Maurino has been involved in various charities and organisations, including working with Lifeline Express.
They provide free cataract operations to patients in China through the use of a converted eye hospital train. This charity is supported by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Railways and Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office. It is funded by the Lifeline Express Hong Kong Foundation, Lifeline Express China Foundation and the general public.
Vincenzo travelled to Xian in China to give his expertise on modern teaching methods for cataract and corneal transplant surgery. He also had an opportunity to visit the renowned train. The service provides vital eye care to the poorest people of china ultimately preventing blindness.
We believe that there is little more rewarding than charity work, especially when it involves transfer of skill that reaches patients regardless of their background and where they live.
