From your first consultation through to post-operative follow up care, rest assured you will be looked after by highly professional and caring staff when you meet the team.
We are with you at every stage of your medical journey.
Our team consists of consultant anaesthetists, senior optometrists and administration staff, who all work at Moorfields. They and have been especially selected because of their clinical skills and experience. All diagnostic tests are carried out in clinic when you meet the team prior to being seen by Mr Maurino. During your consultation, Mr Maurino will explain the results of the eye tests and discuss your eye condition with you in detail. You will be advised which treatment is the most suitable for you and given a detailed explanation as to the reason for this. Mr Maurino will carry out all surgical procedures, explaining the benefits, risks and expected outcomes of the treatment that he recommends. We will be with you throughout your eye vision journey, answering all of your questions and assist you in every way we can.
Administration team
Mr Maurino’s practice managers are Mr Andrew Robson and Ms Annmonique Hepburn. They will be your first point of contact when you call or email the practice. They are also responsible for all administrative aspects of the practice and ensures the smooth day to day running of the practice.
Mr Andrew Robson
Andrew has worked at Moorfields since 2006. He started as a clerk in NHS and moved onto private practice in 2012. He has a depth private practice management experience from two previous employments with private consultant Ophthalmologists. Andrew’s broad knowledge of practice management in ophthalmology ensures operationally the practice runs smooth day to day.
Ms Annmonique Hepburn
Annmonique started at Moorfields in the NHS working as a ward clerk in 2014, in the emergency retinal pre-assessment clinic. In 2019 she became a lead administrator at Moorfields Private. She started working with Vincenzo in 2022
Clinical team
The senior optometrists perform visual assessments, carry out complex diagnostics and imaging eye examinations for each patient. They are also contact lens practitioners who can advise on even the most complex cases concerning contact lens issues. Mr Suri runs a contact lens practice alongside Mr Maurino and is one of the most expert practitioners at Moorfields.
Mr Aneel Suri
Mr Satvir Hansi
Satvir graduated from City University in 2010 with a 2:1 and following positions at prestigious independent Optometry practices joined Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2014. He has further qualifications in glaucoma and independent prescribing and is the lead optometrist at Moorfields for the Keratoconus Monitoring Service. Satvir joined Mr Maurino’s team in 2018.
Ms Shima Shah
Shima graduated from Cardiff University with a 2.1 in 2003. She subsequently trained at Moorfields and qualified in 2004. She has been working for Moorfields NHS and private for the last ten years. Shima is an independent prescriber with ample experience in the fields of external eye disease, contact lenses and glaucoma. She is also the external disease lead optometrist.
Surgical team
In theatre, Mr Maurino is assisted by consultant anaesthetists at Moorfields who ensure the patient is constantly monitored throughout the surgical procedures. In addition to being extremely experienced, they will be very friendly and help to make you feel relaxed during your surgery. The majority of theatre cases are performed under local anaesthetic with intravenous sedation.
